Cotton Company Milestones

Cottco is frequently cited as the model privatisation, which satisfied the needs and aspirations of government, employees and shareholders.
Significant contributions to the fiscus in corporate taxation, healthy returns to investors and providing the means of livelihood to hundreds of thousands of small-scale farmers justified this claim. See below some of our milestones

1992

Introduced Zimbabwe’s first inputs credit scheme

The credit scheme was targeted at small-holder farmers located in marginal rainfall communal areas of Zimbabwe, who could not access loans through banks due to lack of collateral security.
Cottco retained its number one market share position despite stiff competition.

1997

Cottco was privatised

2001

Cottco was first certified to ISO 9001:1994

Cottco was first certified to ISO 9001:1994 in August 2001 which focused on product realisation.

2002

Cottco certified ISO 9001:2000

In our quest for improvement, we successfully went through a transition process to ISO 9001:2000 which was customer focused and got certified in October 2002.

2008

Cottco delisted from the ZSE

2010

Cottco certified ISO 9001:2008

As we value quality in our business we endeavour to adopt the latest and relevant ISO Standard, thus we went through yet another transition programme and were certified to ISO 9001:2008 in May 2010.

Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce “Exporter of the Year Award ”

Cottco won the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce “Exporter of the Year Award ” under the agricultural sector for three consecutive years, 2010 and 2011, 2012.

2011

Cottco won the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce “Exporter of the Year Award ” under the agricultural sector for three consecutive years, 2010 and 2011, 2012.

2012

Cottco won the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce “Exporter of the Year Award ” under the agricultural sector for three consecutive years, 2010 and 2011, 2012.
